SINGAPORE - Two-day electronic dance music (EDM) festival Ultra Singapore is back for its second edition at Bayfront Avenue near Marina Bay Sands.

Day one kicked off on Saturday (June 10) with EDM heavyweights headlining and regional acts at the smaller stages. Dutch DJ-producers Hardwell and Tiesto drew the biggest crowds at the main stage, while Indonesian rapper Rich Chigga, and home-grown DJ and producer Myrne held court at the Live stage. The third Resistance stage, dedicated to techno and deep house, featured iconic UK duo Sasha & John Digweed.

Despite the rain pelting down on the Ultra Park grounds for more than an hour in the evening, partygoers persisted.

Day two on Sunday (June 11) will see a live set by Australian drum'n'bass/rock band Pendulum, who are playing in Singapore for the first time, and big names from the EDM world like Steve Angello and Steve Aoki.

Attendance figures for day one were not available yet, but organisers are expecting 45,000 partygoers, the same as last year's inaugural edition, over both days. It featured close to 50 international and regional acts across the three stages.

While last year's edition was held in September, organisers brought the festival forward to run simultaneously with Ultra Korea.

This year the festival went cashless and is using RFID (radio frequency identification) tags for payments, where partygoers can top up their wrist tags via cash or credit card. Additionally, food will be consolidated in the Ultra Food Village.

Organisers are expecting partygoers from over 60 countries.
