1. Jan 18: JAY CHOU TIES THE KNOT(AND BECOMES A FATHER)
Taiwanese music superstar Jay Chou, 36, holds not one but three fairy tale ceremonies to marry his model girlfriend Hannah Quinlivan, 22.A church wedding in a British castle on Jan 18 is followed by a circus-themed affair in Taipei and one on the beach in Australia's Gold Coast on March 9. They announce the birth of baby daughter Hathaway on July 13.

The longtime host of The Daily Show announces that he is quitting the satirical TV news programme, much to the dismay of his fans. South African comedian Trevor Noah is named as successor.
3. March 24: ANGELINA JOLIE HAS OVARIES REMOVED
Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie, 40, announces in an op-ed piece in The New York Times that she had her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed after a cancer scare. This follows her 2013 op-ed piece about her double mastectomy. Fans on Instagram call her brave and inspirational.

Heart-throb Zayn Malik quits British boy band sensation One Direction citing stress, and fans on Instagram react with every emotion from shock to horror to denial.
5. June 1: CAITLYN JENNER DEBUTS
Bruce Jenner, former Olympic decathlon champion and transgender TV personality, debuts on the cover of Vanity Fair as Caitlyn Jenner. His step daughter Kim Kardashian may have rocked cyberspace the previous year by showing off her booty, but this time, Jenner steals the show.
6. June 15: JONS NOW DEAD?
In the season finale of hit TV drama Game Of Thrones, Jon Snow dies- or doesn't he? When the beloved character (played by Kit Harrington) appears to have been fatally stabbed, fans take to social media to mourn his death- until they start coming up with all sorts of theories of how he had somehow survived, especially when the actor had been spotted on the set for the new season. Naturally, the hashtag #jonsnowlives thrives.
7. July 24: 7 LETTERS PREMIERES
Moviegoers here queue to see 7 Letters, a home-grown film compendium of seven stories by seven of Singapore's most well-known film-makers: Eric Khoo, Royston Tan,Boo Junfeng, TanPin Pin, K. Rajagopal, Kelvin Tong and Jack Neo. Heartwarming and relatable, it was the oneSG50 film that struck a chord in many Singaporeans. Demand was so high that the film got a limited commercial release later.
8. Aug 7: QI YUWU AND JOANNE PEH HAVE BABYGIRL
Singapore's star couple Joanne Peh and QiYuwu give birth to their first child, a baby girl. Not quite the National Day baby feat a la Fann Wong and Christopher Lee, but close enough.
9. Aug 30: MILEY CYRUS AT VMAS
Miley Cyrus twerked her way through the VMAs (Video Music Awards) in 2013. Trust her to raise the bar as host last year by doing what she does best- acting crazy and wearing next to nothing. She shows up in 11 outrageous outfits, including one made of clear plastic and some strategically placed rainbow buttons.
10. Oct 8: ANGELA BABY & HUANG XIAOMING WED
China's prettiest acting couple Angela baby (real name Angela Yeung) and Huang Xiaoming tie the knot in a lavish ceremony that costs US$31 million (S$43 million) -US$3 million less than Prince William and Kate's royal nuptials. At the Shanghai wedding that is streamed live online and boasts a 3m-tall cake shaped like a carousel, the bride wears a custom Dior gown and a US$1.5-million, 5-carat diamond ring.
11. Nov 17: CHARLIE SHEEN IS HIV-POSITIVE
After much speculation, actor Charlie Sheen confirms that he is HIV-positive on The Today Show. Although he was diagnosed four years earlier, he says he had paid millions to blackmailers to keep it a secret. Fans on social media are equally angered and supportive.
12. Nov 20: ADELE RELEASES ALBUM 25
British singer Adele releases her highly anticipated third album 25, which smashes a whole string of sales records, including selling more than three million copies in the first week of release in the United States.
13. Dec 1: AARON KWOK SHOWS OFF NEW GIRLFRIEND
Barely a month after the Hong Kong superstar Aaron Kwok turns 50, he posts a picture of a couple's clasped hands on Weibo and tags Chinese model Moka Fang, 27, in the process. It is the first time he has publicly acknowledged a girlfriend- something his longtime ex-girlfriend Lynn Hung, a 35-year-old actress-model, must not have been too pleased about.
14. Dec 17: STAR WARS:THE FORCE AWAKENS OPENS
The Force is strong when The Force Awakens, the highly anticipated seventh instalment of sci-fi series Star Wars, opens in cinemas. Directed by J. J.Abrams, it is the first Star Wars movie to be released in a decade and also the first one which creator George Lucas has nothing to do with. The critically acclaimed film becomes the fastest movie to cross the US$1-billionmarkat the global box office, reaching this figure in 12 days. Lucas must be regretting that he sold the franchise to Disney.
15. Dec 27: ZHANG ZIYI GIVES BIRTH TO BABYGIRL
Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi, 36, announces the birth of her first child- a girl- on Weibo with a picture of two big hands holding a little hand. She is said to have married Chinese rocker and Voice Of China judge Wang Feng, 44, in May.
