LONDON - Actress Katie Holmes has gone public with her stealthy romance with Oscar winner Jamie Foxx, five years after her divorce from Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise.

Rumours have surrounded Holmes, 38, and Foxx, 49, since they were seen dancing at a benefit in 2013 in the Hamptons, New York's summer playground for the wealthy. But they are said to have gone to great lengths not to be photographed together, by travelling in cars with tinted windows and taking secret lifts - until now.

The Daily Mail has published exclusive photos of the pair holding hands on Monday, the American Labour Day, on a beach in Malibu. It said the couple spent the holiday together at an oceanfront home.

Holmes filed for divorce from Cruise, 55, in 2012. The marriage, her first and his third, produced a daughter, Suri, who is now 11.

The divorce settlement is rumoured to have included a clause that barred the actress from dating publicly for five years.
