Actor Desmond Tan has gone through a lot in his career. He chewed and swallowed a whole raw fish - bones, scales and all - on camera. That was when he played a soldier in the Channel 8 drama When Duty Calls (2017).

The 31-year-old, winner of the Star Award for Best Actor earlier this year, seems to attract parts in which he plays the stoic, quietly suffering man.
