If Hong Kong's TVB is trying to recover lost eyeballs through its crime series The Defected, the struggling broadcaster is going to have to rethink its strategy.

Heavily promoted as the station's blockbuster production of the year, it even promises to be of "movie quality", but does not quite deliver.
