SINGAPORE - If Hong Kong's TVB is trying to recover lost eyeballs through its crime series The Defected, the struggling broadcaster is going to have to re-think its strategy.

Heavily promoted as the station's blockbuster production of the year, it even promises to be of "movie quality", but does not quite deliver.
