SINGAPORE - Is there hope for a supermodel who, by a twist of fate, becomes fat?

That is the plot for a new movie called Fat Hope.

Starring Taiwanese actors Alien Huang and Lin Yu Pin, Encore Films' second local production will be directed by Joyce Lee.

The cast includes homegrown actors Liu Ling Ling, Henry Thia, Jeffrey Xu and Abigail Chay.

To turn the supermodel character played by Lin into an obese woman, the film's producers have tied up with a special effects team whose credits include Mad Max: Fury Road and Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

Lin went to Los Angeles so that the team could fit her out for a fat suit she would be wearing in the movie.

Describing the experience, she said of the process: "I couldn't open my eyes or speak at all. All I could hear was my heartbeat and breathing. It felt like I was diving under water, and like I was all alone in the world."
