It is easy to assume that Channel 8 actress Chen Liping would be garrulous and extroverted, thanks to the many happy-go-lucky roles she has played over a three-decade television career.

But the 52-year-old - known for playing beloved characters such as passionate teacher Miss Aiyoyo in Good Morning, Sir! (1989) and volleyball queen Ding Hui in The Winning Team (1990) - is surprisingly reticent during her two-hour interview with The Straits Times.
