Fans of all things Hallyu can look forward to catching Korean blockbusters on the television when StarHub TV rolls out new channel, tvN Movies HD, from Jan 11.

In a statement released today(Thursday), StarHub TV announced the upcoming launch of what will be Asia's first Korean movie channel.

tvN Movies HD will be available on StarHub TV Channel 819, or streamed on demand on StarHub Go.

StarHub TV is partnering Korea's largest production house, CJ E&M, as well as other industry players in rolling out the latest Korean movies spanning all genres, including comedy, drama, romance and action.

Viewers can also catch special late night screenings of horror flicks, thrillers and movies with mature themes.

The channel's upcoming line-up includes the critically acclaimed thriller The Age Of Shadows (2016), starring Song Kang Ho and Gong Yoo; and political thriller Inside Men (2015) starring Lee Byung Hun and Jo Seung Woo.

"With over 200 titles a year, fans can get their fill of swoon-worthy K-idols or the latest blockbuster K-movies whether they are in the comfort of their living rooms or streaming on the go," says Ms Lee Soo Hui, StarHub's head of content and television.

With the premiere of this new channel, CJ E&M hopes to "broaden its market reach by tapping on the rising trend of Korean movies, which is in high demand in the South-east Asian region", says its CEO Samey Lee.

The company plans to start with Singapore before launching tvN Movies in other parts of the region.
