The Singapore Film Commission, which helped kick-start the careers of award-winning directors such as Anthony Chen, turns 20

In the last 20 years, the Singapore Film Commission (SFC) has helped create films that have won applause from critics (Apprentice, 2016; Ilo Ilo, 2013) and love from the mainstream audience (Ah Boys To Men, 2012).

Sometimes, it funds projects that win neither, such as romantic comedy Chicken Rice War (2000), a boxoffice flop that was also savaged by critics.
