Soundtrack tops Billboard chart

NEW YORK • Folk just cannot enough of Black Panther, it seems. Not only is the movie a blockbuster at the box office, but its soundtrack is also a hit, opening at No. 1 on the Billboard album chart.

The soundtrack, put together in part by Kendrick Lamar, features the rapper himself, the Weeknd, SZA, Khalid and James Blake.

It opened with the equivalent of 154,000 sales in the United States, according to Nielsen.

Of that, 52,000 sales were made of the complete album, with streaming numbers dominating the rest.

The fervour for Black Panther caused Justin Timberlake's Man Of The Woods, last week's top seller, to drop to No. 2.

The soundtrack to The Greatest Showman, the P.T. Barnum biopic, is in third place while hip-hop group Migos' Culture II is at No. 4.

Yet another soundtrack, the one linked to Fifty Shades Freed, proved irresistible, making a bow at No. 5 with songs by Sia, Julia Michaels, Rita Ora and Liam Payne.
