LOS ANGELES - The animated movie Wreck-It Ralph was a sleeper hit in 2012, winning over audiences and critics with its whimsical tale of characters from 1980s-era video games.
It collected a Best Animated Feature Oscar nomination as well as US$471 million at the global box office, making it one of the top animated films of the year. Not too shabby for something that was not an adaptation or sequel.
