LOS ANGELES - The Cool Kids is a sitcom about a rambunctious group of friends living in a retirement community. But do not expect the usual "old people jokes" and cliches, say its producers and cast, which includes veteran performers Vicki Lawrence (The Carol Burnett Show, 1967 to 1978) and David Alan Grier (In Living Colour, 1990 to 2001).

Speaking at a Los Angeles press day for the show - which debuts on April 29 at 9.30pm on Fox Life (Singtel TV Channel 301 and StarHub TV Channel 501) - co-creator Charlie Day explains that "one of the goals was to avoid too many 'Oh, we're old' jokes and to write a show about people of this age saying, 'Hey, life isn't over.'
