It's back to the swinging sixties and seventies for this upcoming variety show by Resorts World Sentosa and Dream Academy. Great World Cabaret, which will premiere on Feb 19 at the Resorts World Theatre, is jumping on the Golden Jubilee bandwagon with a show rich in local nostalgia. Tickets go on sale on Dec 2 (Tues) on Sistic.
It will bring back three of Singapore and Malaysia's nightlife legends: the "Queen of Striptease" Rose Chan (played by Seong Hui Xuan), a-go-go queen Sakura Teng (Joanna Dong), and iconic Malay folk singer Kartina Dahari (Aisyah Aziz), who will all perform classic songs from that period.
Great World Cabaret, which runs till March 17, will also feature a different stand-up comedian performing each week, such as Mark Lee, Hossan Leong, Judee Tan and Sebastian "Broadway Beng" Tan. Theatre practitioner George Chan will direct a script co-written by award-winning playwright Alfian Sa'at and humour blogger Benjamin "Miyagi" Lee.
