Psy performs latest singles at awards

HONG KONG • Psy is back. Bopping and prancing, the rapper performed his latest singles at the Mnet Asian Music Awards in Hong Kong on Wednesday.

He performed Napal Baji and Daddy - both from his latest album Chiljip Psy-da - before closing the show with Gangnam Style, his phenomenal hit from 2012.

The music video of Daddy, released on Monday, has gained more than 19.5 million views on YouTube as of yesterday afternoon. "Hey, where'd you get that body from?" asks 2NE1 singer CL in the video, and Psy answers, "I got it from my daddy."

Billboard calls it "his most enjoyable visual since his breakout viral vid", but The Independent says Psy has failed to recreate Gangnam Style as Daddy "is absolutely dreadful, complete with terrible dancing".

Most reviewers, however, agree that the video - in which Psy plays himself, his father and his son - is as crazy as Gangnam Style.

At Mnet, boyband BigBang bagged awards including Artist Of The Year, Worldwide Favourite Artist and Song Of The Year for their dance tune Bang Bang Bang, and Best Music Video for Bae Bae. Singer Taeyeon took Best Female Artist before accepting Best Female Group with her bandmates from Girls' Generation. Best Male Artist went to singer-turned-producer J.Y. Park and Best Male Group, EXO, Agence France-Presse reported.
