MONTREAL • Britain's Prince Harry and his girlfriend, American actress Meghan Markle, made their first official public appearance together on Monday.

They arrived hand in hand for a wheelchair tennis match at Toronto's Invictus Games.

Since Markle, 36, told Vanity Fair magazine this month that she is "in love" with Prince Harry, 33, fans and the press have been eagerly awaiting an official appearance.

Onlookers scrambled to take pictures as the couple were escorted to Monday's event.

The couple also attended the opening ceremony of the games - created by the prince for disabled or wounded soldiers and veterans - but she was pictured sitting a few rows behind him.

According to his schedule, Prince Harry will stay at Markle's Toronto home for all eight days of the Games.
