Olaf from Frozen is the star of short film

BURBANK •Olaf, the cheerful snowman from the 2013 animated hit Frozen, gets to be the star in an upcoming short film.

Olaf's Frozen Adventure will be shown before the animated fantasy adventure Coco, in which a young boy Miguel finds himself in the Land of the Dead in his quest to be an accomplished musician like his idol Ernesto de la Cruz. Coco will be released on Nov 23.

The 21-minute Olaf's Frozen Adventure features four new original songs and welcomes the original cast and characters of Frozen - including Olaf (voiced by Josh Gad), Princess Anna (voiced by Kristen Bell), Snow Queen Elsa (voiced by Idina Menzel) and iceman Kristoff (voiced by Jonathan Groff) - back to the big screen.

In it, Olaf teams up with Sven the reindeer to comb the kingdom of Arendelle to bring home the best traditions, when sisters Anna and Elsa realise they have none of their own at Christmas.

It is directed by Emmy-winning film-makers Kevin Deters and Stevie Wermers-Skelton (Prep & Landing, 2009).

It also includes original songs by Elyssa Samsel and Kate Anderson, who wrote the music and lyrics for the upcoming musical adaptation of the 2011 young adult novel, Between The Lines.
