In person, director Tim Burton is as wonderfully weird as his films - quirky Gothic fables such as Beetlejuice (1988), Edward Scissorhands (1990) and Alice In Wonderland (2010).

At a recent Beverly Hills press day for his newest movie, a remake of the 1940s animated classic Dumbo, the 60-year-old is a ball of off-kilter energy - a blur of fidgeting limbs under an Albert Einstein hairdo and wrinkled black suit.
