DENVER • Netflix is reeling in more big fish as it casts a wider net to grow its business.
After tying up with former United States president Barack Obama and his wife Michelle days ago to produce content, the streaming service has gone on to win more bragging rights, this time working with A-listers Michael Bay and Ryan Reynolds.
Netflix will co-finance and distribute Bay's next film, Six Underground, starring Reynolds, reported trade publication Variety.
Bay is known for his Transformers movies, while Reynolds has hit pay dirt with Deadpool 2, which toppled the Avengers at the box office over the weekend.
Six Underground will reportedly track six billionaires who fake their deaths for a crusade against bad guys.
The script for the movie comes from two writers behind the successful Deadpool franchise.
Six Underground, whose budget could reach US$150 million (S$202 million) and represents Netflix's biggest investment foray, is slated for a release next year.
