Naked TV dating series heads into season two

LOS ANGELES (AFP) - Cable channel VH1 said on Monday it's picking up a second season of its edgy reality series Dating Naked, in which hip young singles take it all off in their quest for true love.

The hour-long show has pulled about a million TV viewers every week in the United States, and as many as 750,000 online streams per week, since its premiere in July.

And a dozen participants now consider themselves to be in a relationship with someone they met on the show - including two who are soon to marry each other, VH1 said in a statement.

"The show has turned out to be everything we had hoped for: inspiring, funny and illuminating, and we are thrilled that viewers have embraced it," said Howard Schultz, president of Lighthearted Entertainment, which produces the series.

Shot in exotic Eden-like locations, Dating Naked features twenty-somethings stripping down for blind dates, accompanied by presumably fully-dressed camera crews.

Genitalia are pixilated in post-production, although one 28-year-old participant is suing VH1 for US$10 million (S$12.6 million) for allegedly failing to blur out her vagina in a beach wrestling scene.

In an online casting call, producers said they are recruiting men and women "who appear to be between aged 24-32," with a less than successful dating history, to bare all in season two, which is expected to air in mid-2015.
