As the dust, and all those credit-card receipts for overpriced flowers, settle on Mother's Day, two television comedies offer a hilariously sober take on what motherhood means sans platitudes.

Two years ago, American comedienne Ali Wong reached escape velocity with Baby Cobra, her deliciously feminist and foul-mouthed set about Asian-American identity and her sexual and reproductive adventures.
