(REUTERS) - With the world premiere of the new James Bond film Spectre looming ahead, Sony offered to fans a sneak peak into the character development of the two leading ladies played by Monica Belluci and Lea Seydoux.

In the latest Vlog released by Sony on Thursday (Aug 13), Seydoux and Belluci introduce their characters of the usual action-packed release - the Bond Girls.

Belluci plays "an Italian widow with secrets", while Seydoux has taken up the role of the doctor, "intelligent, with a very sensitive and a human character".

Spectre is directed by Academy Award winner Sam Mendes and is scheduled for release later this year. Mendes, who also directed the last Bond film Skyfall, which grossed US$1.1 billion at box offices worldwide, said he was thrilled to have both actresses among the cast. Seydoux called her Bond experience "a great adventure".

The two stars will appear next to Daniel Craig, who reprises his role as secret agent 007 for the fourth time. The film follows James Bond on a rogue mission to Mexico City and then Rome.

The secret agent uncovers the shady Spectreorganization and its dark link to villain Franz Oberhauser, played by Oscar winner Christoph Waltz.

Spectre, the 24th James Bond film, is scheduled for release in UK cinemas on Oct 26 and in the United States on Nov 6.
