NEW YORK - A little Legend is born. Model Chrissy Teigen and musician John Legend welcomed their first child, a girl named Luna Simone Stephens, on Thursday (April 14), they announced on social media on Sunday (April 17).

Just hours after the announcement on her Instagram and his Twitter pages, Teigen was on Twitter with a jokey update, said People magazine.

"To everyone asking, John is healing perfectly," she tweeted.

Making fun of her life as a new mother, she added: "we are so happy and excited! i dunno what to tweet now. does my twitter change? this is so awkward".

Model, television host and cookbook author Teigen, 30, and Grammy winner Legend, 37, married in 2013. She has been unusually open about her IVF journey.

In February, she told People she picked a female embryo during the process. "I picked her and was like, 'Let's put in the girl.' I think I was most excited and allured by the fact that John would be the best father to a little girl."

She hopes to have more children, she added. "The number of embryos we have left is not matching the number of people I want at my dinner table, so I'll have to do it again."
