LONDON • Mick Jagger, who turns 73 later this month, is expecting his eighth child and the mother is American ballerina Melanie Hamrick. London's The Sun newspaper said a spokesman confirmed the pregnancy.

Jagger and Hamrick, 29, are said to have been in a relationship since 2014 and their first child is to arrive in January.

The Daily Mail said they met weeks before Jagger's long-time girlfriend, fashion designer L'Wren Scott, was found dead in a suicide in March 2014.

It said he introduced Hamrick to his children earlier this year when she vacationed with him at his holiday home on a private Caribbean island.

Virginia native Hamrick is a member of the American Ballet Theatre's corps de ballet and was previously engaged to Cuban classical dancer Jose Manuel Carreno.

Jagger has seven other children with four different women, including former actress Bianca Jagger and former model-actress Jerry Hall, now the wife of media mogul Rupert Murdoch.

His oldest child is aged 45 and youngest child aged 17. He also has five grandchildren and recently became a great-grandfather.
