DUBLIN (AFP) - Kanye believe it? Kanye West and Kim Kardashian have caught the world's paparazzi off-guard by choosing to secretly honeymoon in the rain-sodden Irish countryside, according to media reports Monday.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West were married in a private ceremony in the presence of family and friends in the Italian city of Florence on Saturday.

Media reports suggest the couple landed at Cork airport in southern Ireland at 2:00 GMT the following day and were whisked away by a fleet of limousines.

It is rumoured that rapper West, 36, and reality TV star Kardashian, 33, will be based at a luxury rural estate in the southern Munster region.

The couple known as "Kimye" were accompanied by a team of assistants and bodyguards, according to local media.

Far from the tropical weather that the couple could have enjoyed in more exotic destinations, Ireland was drenched by heavy rain showers on Monday, with temperatures reaching a maximum of 17 deg C.

Tourism Ireland, which is tasked with marketing Ireland abroad, is planning on capitalising on the publicity of having the world's most famous newlyweds in the country.

"We're busy at work here pulling together our guide to Ireland for them," Mark Henry, Tourism Ireland's central marketing officer told AFP.

"We'll be releasing it on social media in the next 24 hours aimed at them and their millions and millions of social media followers.

"It's a short video piece that is going to tell all of those fans where they are and what it looks like out here and why, we believe, they've chosen Ireland." Kardashian and West are expected to remain in Ireland until Friday before jetting back to the United States.

West will return in July to play a concert at Dublin's Marlay Park.
