MIAMI • Mrs Bette Maloney is 88 so her granddaughters felt giving her a ticket to a Justin Timberlake concert in her home town of Orlando in Florida would surely be a gift that she could never have imagined.

The story went viral, with commentators jumping on the bandwagon, expressing hope that the singer would take a wefie with her at the show.

Timberlake, tipped off to the online chatter, did not disappoint.

On Monday, Mrs Maloney got to meet the superstar backstage before he performed.

According to the Miami Herald newspaper, she asked the singer: "Do you think Jessica (Biel) would mind if I give you a kiss?" Timberlake, 37, said he did not think his actress wife would kick up a fuss.

Which led Mrs Maloney to cheekily request for a kiss. Timberlake sportingly said, "What's going on here? I'm being hustled", before he planted a smooch on her cheek.

There were more surprises for Grandma. When he was on stage, he said: "I want to give a special shout-out. There is a pretty little lady who ended up on the news... She is 88 and I met her earlier tonight... Where is she? Wherever you are in the audience tonight, thank you. I love you."
