LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Star power doesn't always bring in dollars at the box office.

Johhny Depp found himself at the top of the Forbes list of Hollywood's most overpaid actors for the second year in a row after his movie Alice Through The Looking Glass brought in just US$300 million (S$427 million) at the global box office after costing about US$170 million to produce.

The Mortdecai star returned just US$2.8 dollars at the box office for every $1 he was paid.

Will Smith was also included in the list. His 2015 film Concussion, grossed just US$13 million more than its US$34 million budget.

And gorgeous George came in fifth on the list, with a box office return of US$6.70 for every US$1 he was paid, largely because of the failure of Tomorrowland which cost US$190 million to produce.

Magic Mike star Channing Tatum and comedian Will Ferrell rounded out the top 5.
