NEW YORK - 2014 is closing with a bang for Jennifer Lawrence, who has been ranked the highest-grossing actor in Hollywood.
Forbes magazine says that between The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 and X-Men: Days Of Future Past, the actress' movies have grossed US$1.4 billion (S$1.8 billion) at the box office globally this year.
Forbes says that figure will grow as Mockingjay is still showing in theatres.
It was a big jump for the Oscar winner (for Silver Linings Playbook, 2012) as she was No. 10 on the list last year with US$700 million.
It comes after she recently scored her first Billboard chart hit with Hanging Tree.
Chris Pratt, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Wahlberg and Chris Evans took up the next four slots on the list, which is based on global movie grosses compiled by Box Office Mojo.
The US$1.2 billion in global grosses, which put Pratt in second place, is from the Marvel blockbuster Gardians Of The Galaxy, which grossed US$772 million globally, and The Lego Movie, the surprise hit from Warner Bros which took in US$468 million worldwide and in which he voiced the lead Lego Emmet.
Johansson's movies brought in US$1.18 billion, with most of it coming from Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which grossed US$714 million worldwide. The others come from Lucy and the film Under The Skin, in which she played a hungry alien.
James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender made the list partly because of their film, X-Men: Days Of Future Past.
The film is the only one made by Hugh Jackman, in a ninth-place tie with Fassbender, this year.
