JAKARTA (Jakarta Post/Asia News Network) - Indonesian mother-daughter duo Ana, 43, and Fia, 18, wowed the judges and audience of world-renowned TV competition Britain's Got Talent in Saturday's (May 14) televised auditions.
When judge Amanda Holden asked what Ana's husband thought of her singing with Afi, Ana said: "I had a bad, difficult marriage and recently I had to take the kids out from the home for good."
Ana, Fia and Fia's brother, Afi, currently live in Essex, after moving from Indonesia to the United Kingdom in 2011, according to kompas.com.
"It's our fresh start, I'm hoping for a better future for us," Ana added.
Their emotionally moving performance of Barbra Streisand and Celine Dion's duet Tell Him garnered thundering applause from the audience and a standing ovation led by one of the world's toughest talent show judges, Simon Cowell.
The judges awarded four "yeses" to the pair, which means they will participate in the next round of the competition.
The winner of Britain's Got Talent will be announced at the end of the season and given a shot at winning the £250,000 (S$490,000) grand prize and a slot in the Royal Variety Show.
