SINGAPORE - May 4th is the day that Star Wars fans celebrate a day dedicated to the space movie franchise.
The unofficial celebration internationally comes from the pun on the Star Wars catchphrase "May the Force be with you" to "May the 4th be with you".
According to heavy.com, the pun was first acknowledged on May 4, 1979, by the London Evening News, whice congratulated former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher on her inauguration day by writing the headline "May the Fourth Be with You, Maggie".
On Monday, the Internet world celebrated en masse, and even Singapore's Changi Airport and Marina Bay Sands joined in the fun. "May the 4th" became a top phrase on Twitter.
