No, this has nothing to do with Charlize Theron's time in a relationship with Sean Penn, although it seems just as depressing.
She plays Libby, a survivor of a mass murder - the Kansas Prairie Massacre - and her imprisoned scary-weirdo brother (House Of Cards' Corey Stoll) may or may not be the killer.
This mystery is based on a novel by Gillian Flynn who also penned the mystery-thriller Gone Girl, so I guess there's going to be a startling revelation where maybe Rosamund Pike's character shows up surprisingly alive.
"I'm not ready for this," says Theron's character as she's drawn deeper into the mystery.
You know, that could actually be the same thing the actress said to Mr Penn.

Wow, what happened to Emily Blunt? After playing an alien-killing soldier killing aliens in Edge Of Tomorrow (2014), she is now an action hero. Forget The Devil Wears Prada. This Lady Wears Armour as she suits up as a FBI Swat team agent-turned-drug lord hunter here, hanging with un-glam manly types such as Benicio del Toro and Josh Brolin.
I had always thought Blunt would snag all the schoolteacher roles. Well, here, she is riding nervously into the lawless badlands of Mexico in some kind of modern-day vehicular posse with very wary eyes which looks like US soldiers going into war-torn Iraq. The journey across the checkpoint into Mexico alone looks terrifically tense. This is what the axed TV series, The Bridge, wanted to be if it had more money.
