LONDON • Producers of the first Harry Potter stage play, Harry Potter And The Cursed Child, released the first official photos of the British stars in costume on Tuesday.
Previews of the production, in which the action takes place 19 years after the end of the final Harry Potter book, Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows, start at the Palace Theatre in London next Tuesday.
Details of the production have been kept tightly under wraps in the lead-up to its opening.
Jamie Parker plays Harry as a middle-aged Ministry of Magic employee, whose son, Albus Severus (played by Sam Clemmett), is coming to terms with his magical powers. Poppy Miller plays Harry's wife Ginny.
J.K. Rowling co-wrote the story on which the play, by Jack Thorne, is based.
On the official Pottermore site, Rowling said of Parker, who had starred in Bryan Singer's 2008 film Valkyrie: "He simply is Harry now. There's a kind of relief in watching him, he gets it so right."
More photos of the production (a two-part show that visitors can watch in a single day or over the course of two days) will be released this week, according to Pottermore. The play's script will be out as a book on July 31, a day after the play opens.
