Unexpected casting of Claire Foy as goth-punk heroine Lisbeth Salander in The Girl In The Spider's Web pays off for the actress

The Girl In The Spider's Web director Fede Alvarez knew that movie fans would be surprised when he decided to cast British actress Claire Foy of The Crown fame as his version of Lisbeth Salander.

After all, Foy's Queen Elizabeth II in the acclaimed Netflix series The Crown (2016 to present) is probably the furthest thing from the goth-punk heroine introduced in Stieg Larsson's best-selling Millennium novels.
