For the past three decades, rock quartet Wings have built a reputation as one of Malaysia's most enduring and popular bands, with hits dating back to the 1980s and new material from recent albums. For their latest show here, frontman Awie and gang will raise funds for Perkamus, or the Society of Singers, Musicians and Professionals of the Malay Music Industry in Singapore, and will feature local veteran rockers Yazid from Lovehunters, Hanafie Warren from The Unwanted, Yantzen from Rusty Blade and Rosli Mohalim from Sweet Charity.

AN ACOUSTIC EVENING WITH THIS WILD LIFE

Hailing from Long Beach, California, acoustic pop-punk duo This Wild Life wear their hearts on their sleeves, making emotive music that sings of yearning for love and blossoming relationships. The band just released their debut LP Clouded last year, a record that carries the spirit of emo-rock bands such as Jejune and Dashboard Confessional, albeit lifted with lush strings and piano.

THE GATHERING

This is an indie music festival not to be missed. Eight local and international indie music acts will be performing from day to night, including Glaswegian indie-pop group Belle and Sebastian, American indie-rock band Real Estate and Canadian electronica musician Caribou, as well as home-grown indie-rockers Pleasantry and soul singer-songwriter Charlie Lim.

SATURDAY ORIGINAL SESSIONS

This week, local indie music series Saturday Original Sessions features Brit rock group Flying Syrup. Founded in 2003, the five-piece band comprising French and Indonesian members have built a name for themselves as a Britpop cover band. For the past few years, they have specialised in covering mainstream and indie-rock bands such as Franz Ferdinand, The Killers, Blue, Oasis and Keane.
