If you are after something different from straight-up rock tunes, go down to Hood Bar tomorrow to check out local band Bear Culture. The quintet have their sound rooted in alternative rock, but incorporate elements of 1980s rock, metal and breezy pop melodies. Interesting and technical musical arrangements balance well with soft female vocals.

SKELETONWITCH WITH ETERNAL REST
American band Skeletonwitch mix elements of classic metal, thrash, death and black metal to produce songs which hook listeners. Formed in 2003, the band have released five studio albums to date, the most recent being Serpents Unleashed (2013). Tomorrow, they will be supported by Australian death metal band Eternal Rest and a few local metal acts, including Chugga Ritual and Narfat.

Electronic music takes centre stage this weekend as the Esplanade presents a smorgasbord of refreshing originals from young local musicians. Experience the booms, blips and beats created by beatmakers including Weish, sub:shaman, Pixel Apartment and the National University of Singapore Electronic Music Lab's Cosmic Armchair and Ocean's Children.

REWIND FEATURING JOZIF
London-based house music producer and DJ Jozif will enthral the crowd with his ambient and low-slung rhythms at Club Kyo's Rewind night. Jozif, known for his quirky choice of beats, dramatic strings and brass, was one of London's most in-demand DJs in 2010, putting out releases on highly respected dance music labels including Vitalik Recordings and Wolf + Lamb. Since then, he has continued to put out new mixes and podcasts and has kept himself busy touring the world.
