BEAR CULTURE DEBUT ALBUM LAUNCH

Four years after they were discovered through the mentorship programmes on local music events Baybeats and Noise Singapore, eclectic rock quintet Bear Culture are finally dropping their self-titled debut full-length album at this show. Known for their lively stage presence and a sound that references rock and metal in its various permutations from the 1980s and 1990s, as well as a healthy dollop of modern pop, the band's main set will be preceded by alt-rock experimentalists sub:shaman.

JASMINE CHEN AND THE JEREMY MONTEIRO SHANGHAI JAZZ PROJECT

Less than a year after a successful outing at SingJazz club, local jazz maestro Jeremy Monteiro is bringing back the Shanghai Jazz Project with Shanghai singer Jasmine Chen, this time at The Arts House.

Also back on the stellar line-up is bass player Lao Ren, a giant in the Shanghai jazz scene, and one of China's most prominent jazz advocates. Together with Malaysian saxophonist Julian Chan and acclaimed home-grown drummer Tamagoh, the band will transport the audience back in time to Old Shanghai of the 1920s and 1930s, a time when the city was known as the cradle of jazz in Asia.

TAJ PRESENTS: THE ASTRAL JOURNEY EP LAUNCH

The trio of bass player Tim De Cotta, keyboard and piano player Audrey Tengkey and drummer Teo Jia Rong, better known as TAJ, have been plying the indie gig circuit with the spacey tunes from their debut EP, The Astral Journey. Join them as they celebrate the launch of the CD copies of the EP at this Substation set, which includes collaborations with their contemporaries from the electronic and indie music scene RAH, Ginny Bloop aka Eugenia Yip from The Steve McQueens and Riot !n Magenta, as well as KAYE. Fusion newcomers Cold Cut Quartet will be the opening act.

WILLIAM DAVID CELEBRATES SINGAPORE'S 50TH - A SALUTE TO THE PIONEERS

Get ready to step back in time. The jumpsuits, the sequins, the iconic songs and those sideburns - expect all those and more of The King's trademarks when veteran local Elvis impersonator William David performs. More than just sing Elvis classics such as Don't Be Cruel and Can't Help Falling In Love, he will also pay tribute to another icon from yesteryears - late Mandopop singer Teresa Teng - as well as incorporate a stand-up comedy segment at the show.
