THE LION CITY YOUTH JAZZ FESTIVAL FINALE CONCERT FEATURING JAZZ ASSOCIATION SINGAPORE YOUTH ORCHESTRA (JASSYO!) AND EMINENT MENTORS

Young and budding jazz musicians from the Jazz Association Singapore Youth Orchestra (JassYO!) will perform with home-grown jazz luminaries such as Jeremy Monteiro (below) as well as a stellar international cast of musicians including American trumpeter Randy Brecker, a five-time Grammy winner; American bassist and composer Jay Anderson; and British trumpeter Tom Walsh. The performance is the finale concert for the second outing of the Lion City Youth Jazz Festival.

TRIBUTE TO SIVA CHOY

Musician, comedian and writer Siva Choy (above), who died in March after suffering two strokes that left him in a coma, was a pioneering bluesman in the music scene here and part of prominent 1960s band The Cyclones with younger brother James. Many music listeners will also remember him as the man behind 1991 comedy song and album Why U So Like Dat?

This gig by local group Choy! will pay tribute to him by performing some of his most memorable songs.

TIM DE COTTA & THE WARRIORS SOUL JAM

Home-grown neo-soul singer, songwriter and bassist Tim De Cotta (above) and his band, The Warriors, will take over two hotel bars - Origin Bar today and Victoria Bar tomorrow. The seasoned performer, who has played in major festivals here including Laneway and Sing Jazz, will play sets comprising both original tunes and soul covers with his band.
