Electronic music act Cosmic Armchair's Benjamin Ang (main photo, with fellow member Jane Lau) delves into his Peranakan roots and sets century-old pantuns, or poems, written by his great-grandfather Ang Kay Teong to modern, electronic sounds. The performances are part of the National University of Singapore Arts Festival 2016.

EFG BANK SPOTLIGHT SERIES

Jazz fans will not want to miss out on two sterling European jazz talents performing this weekend.

Italian jazz organist Alberto Marsico (below), backed by a trio comprising saxophone player Shawn Letts, guitarist Andrew Lim and drummer Eddie Layman play tonight. The next night, award- winning Danish saxophone player Jakob Dinesen performs with Singapore's King of Swing, Jeremy Monteiro, backed by drummer Soh Wen Ming and bass player Ben Poh.

SHEILA MAJID - MY INSPIRATION, MY LOVE, MY LEGACY - 30TH ANNIVERSARY CONCERT

Malaysian jazz queen Sheila Majid (above) takes the ongoing celebrations of her 30th year in music to Singapore fans here. Fans can expect to hear a choice selection of her hits, from early pop singles such as Pengemis Muda to more recent fare such as Sinaran Cinta, taken from the soundtrack of the 2015 musical film based on her songs, Sinaran.

GARDEN BEATS FESTIVAL 2016
