The Seletar Mall will host Halloween Mayhem this weekend, which includes a slew of Halloween activities such as a costume contest and a Singapore Book of Records attempt.

To take part in the Spooky Masquerade Halloween costume contest, show up in your best Halloween costumes from 1 to 6pm on Sunday for a chance to win more than $5,000 worth of SPH Malls vouchers. YouTube star Tan Jian Hao is one of the guest judges.

Dr Lam Pin Min, Senior Minister of State for Health and Transport and grassroots adviser to Sengkang West Grassroots Organisations, will also be present.

Sign up online for the toddler (one to six years old), children (seven to 12 years old) or group (minimum two participants) categories at http://bit.ly/masqueradecontest or at the information counter at Level B2 of the mall.

Take note that the top finalists in the children and group categories will be required to go on stage to give a brief introduction about themselves and their costumes. Finalists in the toddler category can be accompanied on stage by a parent or guardian.

The first 300 participants to register at the mall's atrium on Sunday will also receive a goodie bag that includes vouchers from Swensen's, Pizza Hut, World of Sports, Shaw Theatres, Fish & Co, Mirage Flowers and more. Each goodie bag is worth more than $50.

Spooky Masquerade participants can also enjoy henna hand-painting, a photo booth as well as a chance to join the mall's Trick-or-Treat Challenge.

For more Halloween-themed activities, pop by at 1.30pm to be part of an attempt to set a new record in the Singapore Book of Records for the largest number of painted pumpkins.

The organisers, who are gunning for a record of at least 200 pumpkins, hope the event will let shoppers and their families bond through the painting of pumpkins.

From now until Saturday, from 11am to 9pm daily, shoppers can also face their fears at the pitch-dark Fright House in the atrium with a minimum spending of $20 in a single same-day receipt.

There are more than three scare zones that may require participants to crawl, cross hurdles and feel unknown objects.

The mall advises that the event is suitable for children aged 10 to 15, with parental discretion advised for those under age 15.

Cat lovers will have activities to look forward to.

For the second year running, the mall will be supporting the Cat Welfare Society. On Saturday, from 10am to 6pm, the society will have an adoption drive at the atrium.

Cat owners can register their cats in the Cat Fashion Contest on The Seletar Mall's Facebook page (www. facebook.com/theseletarmall) and stand a chance to win up to $2,000 worth of SPH Malls vouchers and prizes.
