LONDON - George Clooney will marry his fiance, British lawyer Amal Alamuddin, in Venice in a "couple of weeks"' time, the Hollywood star revealed.
Clooney, 53, and his 36-year-old bride-to-be made their first public appearance as a couple on Sunday in Florence, Italy, at the Celebrity Fight Night which supports the Andrea Bocelli Foundation.
"I met my lovely bride-to-be here in Italy, whom I will be marrying, in a couple of weeks, in Venice, of all places," revealed Clooney in a speech, according to the Daily Mail.
He was accepting a Humanitarian Award at the gala. E! Online quoted a source as saying, "He said he is an honourary 12-year resident of Italy and then said they were getting married in Venice. He also said to Amal (from the podium), 'I love you very much.'"
There has been speculation that they will wed in Italy where Clooney owns a home on Lake Como.
News that Clooney, one of Hollywood's most eligible bachelors, was engaged was confirmed last April when Alamuddin's legal practice in London issued a statement congratulating them.
