LOS ANGELES • Are Brangelina the new Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor?
The ultimate celebrity couple of their day, Burton and Taylor married and divorced twice. Now, tabloid talk has it that actors Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are getting back together, almost a year after she announced that she had filed for divorce from him.
The Daily Mail, quoting biographer Ian Halperin, said the estranged couple had a heart-to-heart talk at a friend's home in Beverly Hills in July. Pitt, 53, was said to have taken the first step forward before they "collapsed into each other's arms".
Halperin was quoted as saying: "They had it out, right there and then in this very modest house. In that moment, they decided to make a fresh start."
The report, quoting sources close to the pair, said the divorce might still go ahead.
Apparently, Jolie believes that the couple's 12-year romance "started to go wrong" and became boring after they married in 2014.
In a recent interview with The Telegraph, the 42-year-old actress said: "I don't enjoy being single. It's not something I wanted."
A source close to the actors has dismissed the Daily Mail story.
The source told E! News: "They are not getting back together. They are both focused on putting their children's priorities first and are getting along, but this story is clearly an outsider trying to create a storyline that doesn't exist."
Correction note: In our earlier story, we said the Daily Mail quoted biographer Ian Halperin as saying the estranged couple had a heart-to-heart talk at a friend's home in Beverly Hills in August. This is incorrect. It should be in July. We are sorry for the error.
