The local viral hit music video Unbelievable has inspired a new movie titled Mr Unbelievable, starring the tune's singer Chen Tianwen. The $1 million production will start filming next month and is slated for release in December.

However, the video's breakout star Chen is not "stunned like vegetable" at the development.

Speaking to Life in a deadpan tone, the 52-year-old actor says: "We've been talking about making the movie since the video came out.

"I'm really excited at how the movie will turn out. It will bring more awareness to the video."

The music video Unbelievable, from an episode of Channel 5 dramedy Spouse For House in which Chen has a role, became an overnight hit when it was released online in April.

In the video, which has received more than 1.9 million views on YouTube, Chen belts out cheesy lyrics such as "You blossom like a flower, I so stunned like vegetable".

The humorous music video and tune have spawned parodies and inspired products, such as tees emblazoned with the lyrics.

On Thursday, Chen and the rest of the cast, including Liu Lingling, Tosh Zhang and Marcus Chin, will be attending a press conference for the movie, which tells "the comedic tale of an underdog who never loses his integrity and belief in his brand of music".

The movie is produced by mm2 Entertainment and Clover Films.
