Sequel to Maleficent far from magnificent

The sequel to Maleficent vacillates between light and dark, and is not helped by bland characters and choppy editing

Talk about mixed marriages causing family friction. This one, about the union of two from the human and fairy worlds respectively, might lead to a race war and, possibly, genocide.

Welcome to the sequel. The stakes are, of course, higher now, to the point where the original's fairy tale has been replaced by what feels like the fantasy-epic mood of The Hobbit trilogy (2012 to 2014) and Warcraft (2016).
