When you are one of the biggest Hollywood stars and you vanish from view, you run the risk of people calling you a recluse.

While actor Eddie Murphy rejects that label - saying in a 2011 Rolling Stone profile he is simply a "semi-retired gentleman of leisure" and a "homebody" who avoids Hollywood parties - he has largely disappeared from the public eye since his heyday in the 1980s and 1990s.
