British singer Ed Sheeran was injured in a bicycle accident which may affect his shows, the 26-year-old said on Monday (Oct 16).

The Suffolk native posted a photo of his right arm in a cast and left one in a sling on Facebook and Instagram on Monday night.

"I've had a bit of a bicycle accident and I'm currently waiting on some medical advice, which may affect some of my upcoming shows," he wrote, asking fans to stay tuned for updates.

Sheeran is due to tour Asia, including Singapore, in November, with concert tickets sold out. The Straits Times understands that there are no changes to the Singapore shows so far.

The singer was taking a break from his world tour, and was set to resume work with a Taipei gig next week, BBC reported.

Tickets to his Singapore concert sold out quickly, with show promoter AEG announcing ticket sales to a second show to meet demand.

He last played in Singapore at a sold-out show at The Star Theatre in 2015.

Sheeran's world tour, which includes more than 40 dates across four continents, kicked off in Europe in March before going on to South America, Australia and Asia.
