Duran Duran sing on water

MONACO • Luxury yacht builder Ferretti Group floated an idea to anchor support among its customers.

Over the weekend, it rigged up a pontoon in Monaco to host a concert by Duran Duran for more than 500 well-heeled guests.

The British band are no strangers to the nautical environment, with singer Simon Le Bon participating in the 1985/86 Whitbread Round The World Race on the yacht Drum. The Hollywood Reporter noted that the boat had taken part in another race the month before. He was trapped under the upturned hull before he was rescued by a Royal Navy diver.

In Monaco, the singer joked: "The name is Bon, Simon Le Bon."

The band - in a nod to the party image and lifestyle of Monaco - made sure the set list included the hit songs Girls On Film and Rio.
