I have eaten the bread mentioned in the Cheap And Good column in Life last Sunday (Bowled Over By Bread,Aug 2). I am rather disturbed to read that the "insides of the bread are dug out by machine to create a hollow shell".
Up to 800 are sold each day - and this is just the baguette tart. I hope stall-owner Kent Wee feeds the bread remnants to the birds at least.
