Singaporean singer Joanna Dong finished third in the finals of Chinese reality singing contest Sing! China in Beijing yesterday.
Performing in front of a crowd at the Bird's Nest Stadium and millions more watching on television, the 35-year-old jazz specialist did not do enough to make it to the top two. Tibetan teacher Zha Xi Ping Cuo, 30, took the top spot, after edging out Chinese student Guo Qin, 17.
But rather than be disappointed, Dong said it was an amazing experience, one that has made her more confident as she makes it her mission to promote jazz to Mandarin-speaking audiences.
She said: "I think my soul is satisfied by today, but at the same time it's simultaneously become even hungrier."
