Technology stimulates the imagination of kids, says director Steven Spielberg, who has made a movie about the virtual-reality world

He is easily the most prolific and profitable film-maker alive, but legendary director Steven Spielberg is as human as the rest of us when it comes to wasting time on digital devices.

So while his new movie Ready Player One is an immersive thrill ride through a futuristic virtual-reality game, it also proffers a message about needing to stay tethered to the real world.
