SEOUL (THE KOREA HERALD/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - Great news for fans of Descendants Of The Sun: A director's cut DVD of the hit drama will be released in the second half of this year.

Broadcaster KBS and the show's production company on Tuesday (May 31) said the director's cut would feature a re-edited version of the 16th and last episode, as well as deleted scenes, a music video and behind-the-scene footage.

Fans began requesting a director's cut even before the show had its finale in April, but the broadcaster and production company expressed difficulties in such a move. However, they have decided to release the new version at fans' continuous requests.

The KBS drama, starring Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo, centres on the romance between a soldier and a doctor set in a fictional war-torn country.
